My last custom quilt of 2019 and its a beauty. I wasn’t going to write a blog post tonight but honestly how could I not immortalise this one on the pages of the internet. It was a long time in the making from our first conversation to the photo shoot today, years in fact, but patience pays off, timing is suddenly right and pretty things are a great end result.
And it is so pretty. A mix of Michael Miller fabrics including Spring Fling and Brambleberry Ridge. It is a mama throw size (60″ 0r 150cm square) and perfect for snuggling up on the couch. I love the delicate prettiness and honestly it brightened my day from beginning to end.
So pretty!
It’s probably no surprise at all to anyone that I quilted it using my favourite wavy style of quilting. This method never gets old. NEVER! I love that I can do it on my domestic machine and it is a fast yet effective way to make a statement. I have been promising it for a while but I promise a tutorial is coming for this. I just needed the kids home from school so they could do the video part for me. At least I hope that they will be able to do it for me lol.
For the backing we used this stunning gerbera print and the binding is a stripe from the Spring Fling range. It came together so beautifully.
When Melissa and I planned this quilt I was really only offering simple patchwork quilts. It was lovely to come full circle after all the fanciness and growth this year has given me and find out this is still such a lovely way to quilt. The simplicity really allows the fabric to shine which is something I love. I have zero interest in fancy for fancy sake and don’t even get me started on peoples’ warped obsession with points over the overall look. For me it will always be about the fabric first. Always.
And that is a wrap for me for tonight. I am so glad this quilt is made and will make it under the tree for Christmas this year. I hope you love it Melissa and it is more beautiful than you could have imagined.

PS one more because I have no ability to know when to stop lol.
