Playing with Idyllic by Minki Kim

Sometimes a fabric arrives on my doorstep and all best laid plans literally FLY out the window. This was exactly the case when Idyllic by Minki Kim arrived. You guys I knew it would be gorgeous but the online pics did not do it justice. I love everything about it from the modern florals to divine coordinating bias stripes!

Now don’t get me wrong I still have big plans for this quilt as it will be the second cover model for my upcoming quilt pattern Bursting Heart but sometimes you just need to Stop, Drop and Create. So I did exactly that and in a couple of hours I had a gorgeous project completed and a big smile on my face.

I have honestly lost track of the amount of iPads we have broken this year – it is crazy! All are from various unfortunate accidents and school incidents so it was literally a case of terrible timing. A couple of times we even had the fancy dancy protective covers on so I wont lie that hurt even more!

I take my iPad with me everywhere and i just wanted an extra layer of love to wrap it up in when I put it in my basket. So I went back to my Free iPad cover Tutorial and got to work. It can be scary revisiting old Tutorials you have written as a creative but I am happy to say it holds up. I made a few tiny changes by adding the tab instead of button closure and cut it slightly larger at 9″ x 11″ to take into account the case but otherwise I followed it exactly.

IPad cases are on the top of my list for teacher gifts this year now – I love giving practically useful presents.

I removed the ugly cover for this photo because man it is ugly. Dont worry though – it went STRAIGHT back on after these pics.  I am not ready to visit the Apple Store again this month that is for sure.

I quickly assembled the back using leftover strips. Those bias stripes have my heart!!

I am so happy that this sweet make turned out so well and is something I can use and smile at every single day. I am such a lucky girl to have so many beautiful handmade things in my life.
