Playing with Tilda Old Rose {and my Piccolo Apple Pie Pattern release!)

Hello hello hello!

It is a Public Holiday here in Adelaide, in the middle of school holidays AND the second day of Daylight Savings. Talk about a lot going on. I love this time of the year when we start to see warmer days but the nights are still cold enough for a quilt. And any time of the year when you can still snuggle under a quilt is a good time of the year for me.

Today is my turn on the Tilda Old Rose Showcase and I am so excited. There have been some pretty amazing projects shared so far by some exceptionally talented makers  – you can find a link to all their amazing sites and makes at the bottom of this post. I am always so proud of our handmade community at times like this!

I fell in love with Old Rose the minute I saw pictures and was so excited when 2 Green Zebras sent me a bundle to play with. I love the vintage feel and return to a more classic style, I was automatically drawn to the reds and pinks of the bundle although the beautiful Jade green made me all sorts of happy as well. As always with Tilda ranges each and every print is a delight too, especially those gorgeous roses!

It only took me a few minutes to decide that this was the perfect range to release my Piccolo Apple Pie cushion pattern. I have been sitting on this one for a while waiting for the perfect fabrics to appear. Over the years they have been one of my most popular products to make and sell so it felt like a big step releasing this one, like I am setting a child off into the world.

The pattern comes with all templates and instructions necessary to made 2 different styles of cushion – one with 12 pieces of pie and one with 8. It includes 16 pages of photos to help break the steps down and make it as beginner friendly as possible. And of course all the details about how to attach that gorgeous pom pom trim are there as well.

I decided to make four cushions, one for each colourway in the range and I love how they turned out. I really think I need to make a mixed colour one too down the track with a wee matching quilt.

Purple is not one of my favourite colours to work with but this one turned out beautifully with the touches of pink and jade to help it shine. I used the 8 piece pattern for this one and it is so quick to make the top, in fact with some practice you can get a whole cushion made in around an hour.

This one is hands down my favourite. I adore red and pink together and Tilda always does it so well. I can see it on a gorgeous chair in the corner of a room demanding attention.

Last but not least we have this gorgeous blue colourway. I wish I could have found the right colour pom poms but it does look so pretty with the pink.

A wee pic of the cushions all together. They didn’t need anything by the way of styling to shine which makes me happy considering my inability to take a good picture some days.

I sent the pattern to my amazing tester group – Shannyn, Cathy, Emily, Katy, Karyn, Kellie and Ashley and they blew it out of the water! How I wish I had been clever enough to think of gold piping or lace trim detail. I always love watching people interpret my patterns and put their own stamp on them! I am lucky to know so many clever people.

The Piccolo Apple Pie PDF pattern is available to purchase and immediately download in store now. You can purchase here.
