Turnabout Patchwork Book Tour – Xs and Os

https://piccolostudio.com.au/2019/02/02/turnabout-book-t…amond-star-block/

Why hello again! Another day and another stop on the Turnabout Patchwork Book Tour – this time the Xs and Os block. I think it is always a great sign when a blogger likes a book so much they request an extra stop along the way lol. If this is your second visit to me then welcome and I hope you love my makes, if not then you can find my first post featuring the Diamond Star Block here. Make sure you scroll to the end of this post too because I have a competition you will all love to enter.

The Xs and Os block is another HST (half square triangle) creation and it is super quick to assemble which is always a bonus for me who often grows impatient waiting for end results. With a simple stripe fabric you can add some brilliant extra detail to your make, especially once you twist and flip as the book suggests.

As you can see I used the same fabrics as I did in my first block and for great reason as you will see. The two prints are Nancy Zieman’s new posthumous range Afternoon Picnic (distributed by Riley Blake Designs) and my favourite grey stripe from Sedef at Down Grapevine Lane.

Once again I decided to make a cushion and what a beauty she turned out to be. Using the 4 blocks meant I ended up with a cushion cover measuring 55cm square. I wanted to do something a bit different this time and edged it in pom poms instead of binding – I am so so glad I did.

I won’t lie I am a bit impressed with how I lined up those centre stripes. I would like to say it was planned but I can’t tell a lie – it was a lovely perfect accident. How I wish all my quilting endeavours had happy accidents like this!’One last photo before I reveal my end game …

http://piccolostudio.com.au/2019/02/04/turnabout-patchw…k-tour-xs-and-os/

All along I knew I wanted to make a set of cushions with these blocks that coordinated not matched – they turned out perfectly!

http://piccolostudio.com.au/2019/02/04/turnabout-patchw…k-tour-xs-and-os/

I can see them on beds, couches, day beds – anywhere a cushion is necessary. I will be adding these to the shop in the next couple of days – I am drowning in cushions here and these deserve their own place to shine.

Now for the exciting news for you! I have one PDF copy of Turnabout Patchwork to give away to a lucky reader. To enter all you need to do is leave a comment on this post and I will draw a winner at the end of the week. This competition is open worldwide so please enter away!

And that my friends is a very happy wrap from me. I have a lot of upcoming blog posts planned including photos of my new updated sewing room which is filled with all things pretty (I’m sure you wouldnt expect anything less!)

Sarah xx

These are big pom poms Jacqui so it wasnt all that difficult to add them – I could use my standard foot. I pinned the sides only and did those first, then I pinned the top and bottom. I found it easier that way
