About Me

My name is Sarah and I am lucky to live on the beautiful Fleurieu Peninsula in South Australia with my husband Peter and 3 children Abby, Cooper and Hannah. Collector of crazy animals (or so it sometimes seems!) I share the couch with Daisy and Charlie, our dogs, and Superman and Lillypilly, the long suffering cats.

I have been in the handmade industry in some shape or form for 12 years and in 2014 I launched Piccolo Studio. I have an obsessive love for beautiful fabric and strongly believe every person on Earth should own one beautiful thing that is all theirs and created just for them. My interest in predominantly children’s decor has landed me in the world of quilting and the love affair is a strong one! I started working  with people creating custom bedding sets and over time that evolved into me create patterns and tutorials.

When I am not attached to my sewing machine I am caring for my beautiful children, 2 of whom have been set challenges that require extra love and support. I fight the good fight against chronic illness and disability. What does that mean? Well life can get a whole lot crazy around here and when it does we bunker down and batten the hatches until the storm has passed. Luckily it always does.

Since I started blogging and writing patterns I feel like the world has opened up to me. I have discovered a new depth to my creativity, a love of teaching others to sew and a genuine interest in the Industry that has supported me for so long. And I love that I am constantly learning and evolving my style and craft.

I have thought a lot over the past few months about where I stand as a creative. It will never be about perfection here. I want you to try everything you love the look of understanding sometimes the end product wont be technically brilliant. I want you to love the process, accept that we are all perpetual students and be proud of what you have created. It is so important to me that we dont get in our own way and quit before we start.

Something else I love? Quick sews and fussy cut fabrics! I want to make a beautiful quilt in a few days from beginning to end. And I want you to be able to to as well. The more we learn together the better all our journeys will be.

Thank you for entering into my corner of the world – I look forward to getting to know you.

xx Sarah
