Penny’s Room – Magic

Since the release of the Magic collection by Sarah Jane Studios my shop has been super busy with orders for cushions and accessories in it. And it is easy to see why. The collection features all of the images and details that little girls (and their mums) all over the world fall madly in love with – unicorns, mermaids, bunnies, dragons and gorgeous flashes of gold and love messages to complete the stunning collection. At this stage I cant see the love affair dying down anytime soon and it is easy to see why. (Shop the piccolo Magic collection here)

I had been dying to make a magic quilt for so long but hadnt had the time or space to make one just because. A custom order was the perfect opportunity! Kerrianne wanted the two border fabrics incorporated into the quilt along with strips of Betsy, a gorgeous Liberty of London print I sourced from the amazing girls at Ava & Neve.

So border panels, Liberty of London fabric and patchwork strips were used to create, what I think is a beautiful quilt, perfect for any little Princess room. So much like a modern fairy tale I can imagine them telling their own stories from those little fabric squares.

As you can see Kerrianne chose the wavy stitch as her quilting and how sweet is it! I think it works perfectly.

And what a joy it was to photograph in Hannah’s room – it matched perfectly. She is moving away from pretty now so it wont be long before all the pretty is out of her room and we are staring down the barrel of a room for a tween. To be honest I am holding that off as much as possible lol.

For accessories Kerrianne chose a pillowcase and coordinating apple pie cushion – I love it when I get to create a full custom set instead of just a quilt. It means that you know everything will work the minute it goes on the bed.

And of course the detail in the apple pie cushion – what is not to love about every single one of those fussy cut pie pieces.

Once Penny’s quilt was washed and dried it was packed up and ready to fly to its new home. I wont lie this part always makes me so nervous. I consult with my custom order girls every step of the way but the hope is that despite all the photos they have seen they love it even more when it is right in front of them.

Kerrianne sent me pics as soon as the quilt arrived all set up on Penny’s bed. It definitely fit the space perfectly.

And look at that gorgeous Alimrose dolly from her shop , resting so comfortably against the cushion!

But at the very end of the day the most important part of any custom order is making sure the intended recipient is happy with our choices. I think in this case we can tell by Penny’s smile it is a very definite win!

Ps for those of you still reading. I know I am yet to get custom order information up on my site, finding time to sit at the PC is always a struggle. BUT you do know you can always contact me and I will happily share the process with you in the meantime right?

PPS Notice the corner of Hannah’s room in the pics above where her bircage hangs over the tree? Yes that is right. Today it holds a trapped leopard which she spent most of the day rescuing with some incredibly complex games. I do love watching imagination at work.
